Brief History
A Brief History of the Rosanna Cricket Club
The Rosanna Cricket Club was established in 1925 after the disbandment of the St. Andrews Church of England Club (Rosanna), which competed in the Eltham Cricket Association for the 2024/25 season. The St Andrews team was formally admitted to the Eltham Cricket Association on 30 September 1924 and played the 1924-25 season as St Andrews (Rosanna).
Members from this team joined the newly established club. The first record of a formal meeting of the club was held in the Claremont hall on the 31st July 1925. At the first meeting of the club, Mr J. A. Mills was elected President and Mr. W. Massey to the position of Secretary. Permission was granted by the Heidelberg Shire Council for the Club to share the wicket at Heidelberg Park and the Club's first equipment was obtained from the recently abandoned St Andrews Church of England Cricket Club.

Rosanna Cricket Club entered one XI in the Heidelberg District Cricket Association in the 1925-1926 season. The HDCA at that time comprised eight clubs: Alphington, Fairfield, Fairfield Diggers, Fairfield Fotballers, Heidelberg, Ivanhoe, North Ivanhoe and Rosanna.

The club has been strong administratively throughout its over 100 years as a local community cricket club and very successful on the playing field with 101 premierships (senior and junior) competing in the major divisions in the local cricket associations.

In February 2025, the club published its history in a wonderful publication prepared by life members Dennis Hartney and Alan Bell drawing upon and extending material from the history produced by Alan for the first 50 years. Th publication is in three volumes detailing season by season the club events and achievements, a myriad of statistics outlining team and player achievements over the 100 years and a showcase of memorabilia associated with the club.
